What Type of Water Damage am I Experiencing?

In dealing with water,  it’s important to understand the quality of the water involved, and that water is separated into three categories for health-safety standards. Clean water, grey water, and black water: Category one, clean water is considered water that one can safely drink. This water is commonly found flowing through sink faucets, shower-heads, rain and snowfall, and is commonly associated with water leakage around faulty refrigerator lines, broken water lines, toilet tanks, and shower and sink overflows. Category one water damage is an instance in which the below check-sheet should be implemented.

Category two, grey water. This form of water is unsafe to drink and should be left alone to be handled by a professional team. This water likely contains chemicals, contaminates, and particle debris. In a category two water situation follow only the steps 1-4 in the check-sheet and leave the rest of the clean-up to our team of professionals. In as little as 48 hours, grey water can evolve into blackwater which is the most toxic of all waters.
